revised 7/23/10 for contracts signed after this date
With a commitment to having our transactions embody the principles of the project, we are adopting a pay-it-forward model. Each audience will pay for the next audience’s experience of the performance, having received its own performance as a gift.
The organization presenting the show will choose, from the options below, how to keep the gift moving. We offer these options because we are committed to working with every organization regardless of size or means. The following options are suggestions for organizations that do not need to make any revenue from this event.
- The hosting organization takes full responsibility for keeping the gift moving, and pays a performance fee. This fee is on a sliding scale according to audience size and the organization’s means ($350 for small organizations, $500 for churches with over a 100 members, $850 for large churches (200 members or more), colleges, and organizations with large membership). In addition, the hosting organization may elect to include a free will offering from the audience.
- The hosting organization shares responsibility with those attending the show to keep the gift moving. The hosting organization pays an honorarium (according to their size and means) with the understanding that the audience will be asked to provide a free will offering or be charged admission. The expectation is that the honorarium plus the free will offering must meet or exceed the sliding scale performance fees mentioned above.
Although there will be times when contributions don’t cover production and touring costs, we trust that the necessary provisions will materialize. In the case that this experiment creates a surplus by the end of the tour, that money will be donated to organizations whose mission is similar to the focus of this project. Records of production expenses and donations will be available at the end of the tour season, for whoever is interested in the results of this experiment.
